General flower Care

To ensure freshness, each individual order is sourced directly from our growers. We highly recommend you follow these simple steps to ensure the optimum enjoyment of our brilliant blooms:
Clean your vase to prevent bacteria.
Fill 1/3 of vase with lukewarm water.
Remove any leaves that would be under the waterline, preventing the growth of bacteria.

Cut 2-3cm off each stem every few days, to allow the flowers to absorb the maximum water necessary.
Keep flowers away from draughts, direct sunlight, heating or any extreme temperatures.
Change water when it becomes discoloured and top it up when needed.
Within time, remove any wilting flowers which will prevent mould from building.

Allium

Alliums are simple flowers to care for, so please simply follow the general care above

Alstroemeria

All of our Alstroemeria are delivered fresh from our grower therefore they will be closed buds. Which means you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty and opulence as they reveal themselves over due course. To accelerate the speed at which your alstroemeria can bloom sooner, lukewarm water can be added to your vase.

Amaryllis (Hippeastrum)

Amaryllis have hollow stems therefore please be gentle with them when arranging. They should be cut straight across the stem as opposed to a 45° angle. Over time the amaryllis might curl at the stem, when you see this make sure they are freshly cut to ensure they stay fresher for longer.

All of our Amaryllis are delivered fresh from our grower therefore they will be closed buds. Which means you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty and opulence as they reveal themselves over due course. To accelerate the speed at which your Amaryllis can bloom sooner, lukewarm water can be added to your vase.

Anemones

Anemones stems are soft so please do not apply too much pressure on their delicate stems. They should be cut straight across the stem as opposed to a 45° angle. Place them in shallow water, as opposed to deep water as their hollow stems rot if so. However please do keep checking on the water level as they are thirsty flowers.

Bouvardia

Please follow the general instructions above, however bouvardia is sun sensitive so please make sure they are away from direct sunlight.

Brassica Crane Rose (Cabbage)

Cabbage rose arrive ready to go, just simply follow the instructions above.

Please note. Due to its cabbage family heritage, if the water is not regularly changed an unwanted fragrance will arise.

Calla Lily (Zantedeschia)

Calla Lilies have soft stems therefore please be gentle with them when arranging as they easily damage and break. They should be cut straight across the stem as opposed to a 45° angle. Over time the Callas might curl at the stem, when you see this make sure they are freshly cut to ensure they stay fresher for longer.

Place them in shallow water, as opposed to deep water as their hollow stems rot if so. However please do keep checking on the water level as they are thirsty flowers.

Chrysanthemum Blooms

Please remove the netting (if any) we have provided for protection. Do not pull the netting off from the top, simple pull from the bottom on both sides. Be very gentle as they are delicate flowers.

Cymbidium Orchids

Please remove the water tubes provided and cut them stems at a 45° angle, place them into cool water.

For Cymbidium it is especially important that the stem be supported. If the stem is not supported, the life expectancy of the flower is significantly reduced due to lack of water flow up the stem to the flowers.

Cymbidium Cut orchids should not be kept lower then 10°C/50°F, avoid any cold draught or colder temperatures.

Daffodils

Daffodils stems are soft so please do not apply too much pressure on their delicate stems. They should be cut straight across the stem as opposed to a 45° angle. Place them in shallow water, as opposed to deep water as their hollow stems rot if so. However please do keep checking on the water level as they are thirsty flowers.

To accelerate the speed at which your Daffodils can bloom sooner, lukewarm water can be added to your vase.

Dahlias

Please follow the general care instructions above. However, they are extremely delicate flowers so please do be extremely careful when arranging their blooms.

Delphiniums

Simply follow the general instructions above.

Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus should be cut diagonally, then cut in an upright direction splitting the base which therefore increase water flower.

Then simply follow the general instructions above.

Freesia

All of our freesias are delivered fresh from our grower therefore they will be closed buds. Which means you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty and opulence as they reveal themselves over due course. To accelerate the speed at which your freesias can bloom sooner, lukewarm water and natural light can be added to your vase.

Then, simply follow the basic steps above.

General Flower Care

1. Clean your vase to prevent bacteria, 2. Fill 1/3 of vase with Lukewarm water, 3. Remove any leaves that would be under the waterline, preventing the growth of bacteria, 4. Cut 2-3cm off each stem every few days allowing the flower to absorb the maximum water necessary, 5. Keep away from draughts, direct sunlight, heating or any extreme temperatures, 6. Change the water when it becomes discoloured and top up when needed, 7. Within time, remove the wilting flowers to prevent mould from building.

Gerbera

There are a few methods to keeping gerberas straight and long lasting.

When you first get your gerberas, place them in a vase of lukewarm water to help keep the stems straight. Be careful not to use water that's too hot though!

When you first receive your gerberas, create a grid with tape at the top of your vase so that the stem hangs down in the water without leaning on the bottom. This allows the stem to soak up the water and encourages it to straighten out this is only if it has previously changed shape before arriving in your home.

Gladioli (Gladiolus)

Gladioli flowers are delivered as closed buds and will open over the course of a few days.  If you would like them to bloom faster, tepid water and natural daylight will accelerate their opening.

Hyacinths

Hyacinths stems are soft so please do not apply too much pressure on their delicate stems. They should be cut straight across the stem as opposed to a 45° angle. Place them in shallow water, as opposed to deep water as their hollow stems rot if so. However please do keep checking on the water level as they are thirsty flowers.

All of our Hyacinths are delivered fresh from our grower therefore they will be closed buds. Which means you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty and opulence as they reveal themselves over due course. To accelerate the speed at which your Hyacinths can bloom sooner, lukewarm water can be added to your vase.

Hydrangea

Sometimes Hydrangea wilt soon after being cut because their stems hold a gluey substance that clogs the stems preventing water reaching the top of the stem to the head.

Therefore before placing the flower in a vase.

Boil water and pour it into a cup or any container

Diagonally cut the stems to the desired length

Place the bottom of the stems into boiling water, then let it sit there for 1 minute.

Fill your vase with 1/3 of warm water, then arrange and enjoy

Ilex Berries

Ilex berries should be cut diagonally, then cut in an upright direction splitting the base which therefore increase water flower.

Ilex berries also like to be misted with room temperature water.

Iris

Place them in shallow water, as opposed to deep water as their hollow stems rot if so. However please do keep checking on the water level as they are thirsty flowers.

Iris are delivered fresh from our grower therefore they will be closed buds. Which means you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty and opulence as they reveal themselves over due course. To accelerate the speed at which your Iris can bloom sooner, lukewarm water can be added to your vase.

Leucadendron

Leucadendron are a simple flower to care for, simply follow our general guide above.

Lilac (Syringa)

Lilac should be cut diagonally, then cut in an upright direction splitting the base which therefore increase water flower.  Display the lilac flowers away from direct sunlight and in a cool, draft-free position.

Try cutting the stems primarily in the tallest vase, then recutting them a few days later for a shorter vase when you change the water in the vase and even recutting a third time for your shortest vase. This will freshen the stems allowing the lilac to absorb the water from stem to bud.

A little tip; At night, or when you will not be at home to enjoy the cut flowers for longer, store them in the refrigerator between 40 and 50 degrees this can enhance the flower life.

Lily

Lilies are delivered fresh from our grower therefore they will be closed buds. Which means you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty and opulence as they reveal themselves over due course. To accelerate the speed at which your Lily can bloom sooner, lukewarm water can be added to your vase.

Once open Lilies will reveal their pollened centre. If you are wanting to remove the pollen, please wear protection as they do stain your hands or anything that comes into contact with them, like dropping on the carpet or your walls. So, delicately detach the pollen by removing the stamen from the centre of each flower.

Lily Of The Valley (Convallaria Majalis)

Avoid Lily of the Valley being near any drafts or areas of intense heat as this will cause the flowers to wilt sooner rather than enduring.

Lisianthus

Please, simply follow the general instructions above.

Lucky Bamboo

We advise to not cut the already formed roots at the bottom, however if you need them to be cut shorter you can do so but it is important to keep up to date with the upkeep. Replenish the water every seven to 10 days to keep it happy and healthy. Algae can form in the water, so try to clean out the container and change the water regularly. It needs bright but filtered sunlight, similar to the light beneath some form of protection but it cannot be in direct sunlight.

Mimosa

Mimosa should be cut diagonally, then cut in an upright direction splitting the base which therefore increase water flower.

Moluccella (Bells of Ireland)

Please follow the general instructions above, but please note Moluccellas are heat sensitive, make sure they are away from any extreme heat.

Paperwhites

Paperwhites stems are soft so please do not apply too much pressure on their delicate stems. They should be cut straight across the stem as opposed to a 45° angle. Place them in shallow water, as opposed to deep water as their hollow stems rot if so. However please do keep checking on the water level as they are thirsty flowers.

Phalaenopsis Orchids

Please remove the water tubes provided and cut them stems at a 45° angle, place them into cool water.

Roses

Roses should be cut diagonally, then cut in an upright direction to ensure water flow. Then follow the simple instructions above.

All our opulent roses arrive with natural guard petals which protects the bud during transportation and therefore will be fresh upon arrival. These outer petals can be easily removed if you prefer a cleaner look.

Snapdragons (Antirrhinum)

Please, simply follow the general steps above.

Spray Roses

Roses should be cut diagonally, then cut in an upright direction splitting the base which therefore increase water flower.

Then simply follow the general instructions above.

Stocks (Matthiola)

Please follow the simply steps above.

Strelitzia

Strelizia are amazing flowers, lasting around 7-10 days. Once the first set of blooms on top have died, please do not throw them away. Cut off the old head and simply put their buds in lukewarm water for 5-10 minutes. Slowly opening up the casing, another set of beautiful birds of paradise will be hiding. Slowly manipulate the bloom to pop out of their protection then gradually slide them open and enjoy for another 7 days.

Sunflowers (Helianthus)

Our sunflowers are delivered fresh from our grower therefore they will be closed buds. Which means you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty and striking colour as they reveal themselves over due course. To accelerate the speed at which your Sunflowers can bloom sooner, lukewarm water can be added to your vase.

Sweetpeas (Lathyrus)

Sweetpeas are soft and delicate flowers so please do not apply too much pressure on their beautiful blooms. Avoid any means of direct sunlight as they are extremely sensitive flowers. Keep the vase always full, please do keep checking on the water level as they are thirsty flowers. Occasionally misting helps keep the flowers fresh. Unfortunately, they have a much shorter lifespan to that of other blooms.

Thistles (Eryngium)

Thistles are a delight to care for. Please follow our general care instructions above.

Tulips

Tulips stems are soft so please do not apply too much pressure on their delicate stems. They should be cut straight across the stem as opposed to a 45° angle. Place them in shallow water, as opposed to deep water as their hollow stems rot if so. However please do keep checking on the water level as they are thirsty flowers.

Uniquely, tulips keep growing even once they have been cut. So, for longevity it is extremely important that they are supported throughout this process. Unless you like the bendy and drooping look, you can then leave nature to do what it does best.

Viburnum (Guelder Rose)

Viburnum should be cut diagonally, then cut in an upright direction to split the base which ensure water flow. Then follow the simple instructions above.

Viburnum is a sensitive bloom; therefore, it cannot be placed in any direct sunlight, excessive heat or draft.

Wax Flower (Chamelaucium)

Wax flower should be cut diagonally, then cut in an upright direction splitting the base which therefore increase water flower.
